Spain bids farewell to World Cup with 'great sorfrow'

Rio de Janeiro, June 19 (IANS/EFE): Spain striker Pedro Rodriguez said the team will leave the FIFA World Cup with "great sorrow" as it is hard to find an explanation for their shocking elimination from Brazil.

Spain will try to play their last fixture of Group B against Australia “in the best way possible” after losing their second game to Chile 0-2, reports EFE.

Barcelona's Pedro said that it pains his team to bid farewell to the World Cup after two consecutive losses. He added that they wanted to deliver a good performance against Chile to make up for the landslide 1-5 defeat against the Netherlands, but failed to do so.

Pedro said that Spain's last game Monday will be played for the “pride” of fans.
