Venkaiah Naidu Asks Governors to Show Dignity and Resign

BANGALORE, Jun 21 (Express India): Union Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu on Friday advised political appointees across the country to quit gracefully. He was reacting to allegations of ‘assault’ on governors in the country.

“It is in the interest of the system that political appointees go with the political establishment. There is no need to make this a controversial issue. If they were elected representatives, it would be a different matter. However, it is not and the best way forward is to resign voluntarily and respectably,” he said.

Asked if the BJP would refrain from making political appointments, Naidu said there was no such mandate from the country and if the country decided that political appointments should be stopped, then the BJP government would follow that.

Replying to questions about two governors being questioned in the AugustaWestland chopper deal, Naidu indicated that this was inevitable. “If the investigating officers believe there needs to be questioning, they have to be questioned,” he said, adding that this cannot constitute an ‘assault’ as is being proclaimed by the Congress.

Naidu clarified that when it comes to development, politics should be kept out. “Politics should be limited to politics and not affect the governance of a state or country,” he said.

When asked about the Anti-corruption Bill which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had proposed on the eve of the general elections, Naidu said the Congress had nine years, nine months and 29 days to get the bill passed, but did nothing. “We do not need their advice on the matter considering they slept on it all these years. Dealing with corruption is on the agenda and we have begun with the black money issue,” Naidu said.On the Congress protesting about rising inflation, Naidu quipped that Congress was in power for nine years and did nothing about it. “I request the Congress to be gracious in its defeat and accept the people’s mandate,” he said.

He clarified that the controversy surrounding the advisory on Hindi was unfounded. “We are not trying to thrust the language on anybody. As home minister, Rajnath Singh only asked people to consider using Hindi as a medium of communication. We want to promote regional languages. However, Hindi is also our national language and we have to understand that,” Naidu said.

Joshi, Shettar Defend Decision

Hubli: State BJP president Prahlad Joshi and opposition leader in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar on Friday defended the decision of the Union Government to replace the governors of a few states. Addressing reporters on Friday, Joshi criticised the Congress leaders for objecting to the proposal to change the governors, reminding them how the UPA government did the same in 2004. “The UPA government had changed the governors appointed during the NDA regime without providing them an opportunity to resign,” he said.

Joshi took exception to the appointment of Congress leader C M Ibrahim as the deputy chairman of the State Planning Board.

He urged the state government to share 50 per cent cost of the railway projects being implemented in the state as done during the BJP regime.

Minister Venkaiah, is asking Governors to show dignity?
His party BJP, shouted on roof top when previous Govt raised prices! People voted them to curb prices, his Govt is now shamelessly raising prices of rapid mass transport systems used by common man, is it dignity? Not keeping the word given to public?
If price rise was inevitable why was he / his party were shouting against price rise? Just to grab power by fooling common man? By fooling public, they fooled themselves also, once trust is lost, very difficult to regain!

    Abdul Rafiq, Uchila / Dubai
Dear Mr. Abdul Rafiq, BJP led NDA is democratically elected by Indian voters, because voters were angry and frustrated by 10yrs of miserable, corrupt governance by Congress led UPA, so lets give them a chance, why blame them for the price rise, Indian railway is running under loss for so many years, highest number of people use trains for commuting, Indian rail price is still the cheapest in the world, compared to Australia or any other countries. Diesel & petrol price has effected all over the world due to situation in Iraq, we can't blame NDA for that. We are not justifying NDA governments price rise, we request them to sort it out and remember the assurance Mr. Modi had given the voters " Sub ka sath, sub ka vikas". We are very sure he won't let the voters down.
BJP led NDA has just come to power, judging them harshly within a months time is very unfair, lets give them some time, before we pass our judgement and accuse them.
We have given Congress 65yrs, why can't we give current Bjp led NDA at least 5yrs. Then when they go back to voters in yr 2019, they will be judged accordingly & voters will give their verdict.
Regarding the governors resignation is concerned, all governors should resign, as none of them were ed on merit, but as congress loyalties, Sheila Dixit is the worst, she should be sacked, NDA should appoint governors on merit, who are not associated with any political party, who have contributed to public life as social workers or scholars or any other field.
    Cheers

When you know that Indian railway charges are the lowest in the world, then why the hell BJP was coming on the roads like mad dogs to protest against the railway fare hike in earlier years. Can you show a single incident where this FEKU BJP did not protest against increase in railway fare. Why BJP was not able to digest a reasonable increase of 5% every year. BJP wanted to prove its goondagiri and rowdysm on the roads.

Come on Naidu show dat u r men of word n fulfill promises than playing faul...u guys never did anything abt black money othrr than just falling in line with SC of India. U had enough blocking of parliament sessions n disruptions n now asking why congress didnt pass d bill? Did u support in passage of bills? Dey didnt had majority like u have now so cone on dongi fekus pass all those bills which u were barking abt n shiw d country.

The difference if you want to know between BJP and congress with regard to the subject is as follows

    (a) There were only 4 governors out of around 30 governors who were RSS background in 2004. You may say RSS is BJP, but basically it is apoilitical (in Kerala it supports congress). But of present governors, all were congress party bearers in various capacities.

    (b) Congress terminated the governors, where BJP requested secretly and informally to reduce embarrassment. Now openly requesting as these useless governors informed the informal thing to press by degrading themselves. Now BJP is opnely requesting.

    (c) BJP appointed governors had no cases against them. The congress appointed governors are facing CBI enquiries in Augusta & Commonwealth games. Hence, congress purposefully made them governors to avoid enquiries.

If you still need the difference between congress and BJP in this subject, there are plenty. To begin with such political appointment to the Raj Bhavan was started by dongi congress

Venkaiah Naidu has no dignity nor any moral values himself. He has never stood for a Lok Sabha election fearing defeat. He has made an entry into Parliament through the back door
( Rajya Sabha ). Naidu demanding the Governors to resign is itself illegal and amounts to contempt of the Supreme Court of India ( Writ petition no: 296 / 2004. B.P.Singhal, BJP MP, Vs Union of India. Judgement delivered by a Constitution bench incl. the CJI on 07/05/2010 ).

Naidu is homeless refugee himself. He has conveniently forgotten that he too has not been elected by people but entered through the back door. Most of the governors in question were elected by people several times and whereas Naidu has always managed to jump into the 'Parliament' through the 'window'. Further his own state Andhra has forsaken him where BJP is nothing but a big ZERO and he is surviving on the mercy of Karnataka BJP for his political livelihood. What dignity must the governors show when the Centre has not shown any dignity in asking them to quit? Dignified way is giving written instructions to quit and not telephoning through Secretary. Dignified way is respecting the Supreme Court order of 2010 which had rapped UPA for similar move. After all this 'musical chair' of governors was started by NDA when it first came into power in the late 1990s. So what right Naidu or BJP has in asking the governors to quit? If the governors do not put their papers down, what you gonna do? On what grounds would you 'sack' them? Would you show them the 'CBI' stick? If yes, what is the difference between UPA and NDA? Weren't you hitting streets to let out the 'Caged Parrot' a year ago? Then why use the same CBI for your political gains now? Sticking on to pre-poll promises and manifesto is political dignity and not deviating people's attention to cover-up your administrative failures.

    BJP minister Nihalchand rape case
    Diesel price hike
    Railway fare hike
    Veg, Fruit price hike
    Imposing Hindi on everybody
    Removal of governors
All the above issues will be alive forever and increasing the problems day by day. i don't think Modi govt will last for more than 6 months. He will resign and skip from his responsibilities very soon. We can see Modi will become one more Kejriwal.

Mr.Venkaiya Naidu what dignity they have to show you when they resign?
You bring back the black money and shoe...sorry show the dignity. You control the inflation and price rise and show your dignity. You increased railway fare by so much...percentage...? where is your dignity. Did you control the corruption in your frends circle(M.P's)
To control the corruption you need time...To bring back the black money(which will never happen..)you need the time.Because its in your friends-circle....! But to increase the railway fare you did it with in no time. You increased petrol price with in no time...So yo had the time to consult with Ambani brothers. Mr.Venkappaaa, your party is fooling the common man...! Thum tho dhesh ka logon ko acchasa shendi lagha rahe ho...and after 4 years you will come up with common man friendly 2-3 schemes and again we will be happy and we will vote for you. Congress did the same thing before the elections and your party is not different from them. You all are a Mafia...!
People please understand the Indian political leaders inner agenda's....Its a parallel set up which you should know. Arvind Kejriwal had the guts to question those agenda's. The Media, The Ambanies and the Adani's, corporate links, Goondaism links..etc. Please study these links...and you will come to know the WOW...oh...things of these corrupt leaders

This is not a new precedent by NDA, but was implemented by V P Singh in 1989 when National Front Govt sacked 4 Governors of Congress, NDA & UPA have only followed this stricture...So before momentum grows for the UPA appointees to quit, they should demit office ASAP
