Ajman, June 21: Gulf Medical College Hospital and Research Center (GMC Hospitals) in Ajman, Sharjah and Fujairah created health awareness by organizing the Free Mega Health Camp.
“The camp was held simultaneously in all its hospitals at Ajman, Sharjah and Fujairah on Friday June 20 from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. More than 6,000 people thronged the hospitals, most of them came from labour camps and industries in Ajman, Sharjah, RAK, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain,” said Akbar Moideen Thumbay, director healthcare operations of Thumbay Group.
The camp was inaugurated at GMC Hospital Ajman by Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen, chairman BA Group India in the presence of Thumbay Moideen, founder president Thumbay Group UAE, directors and hospital administrators.
“We have been holding these camps regularly for past many years as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility,” said Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group, who are the promoters of GMC Hospitals in UAE. “We hold it twice a year, in June and September and serve the needy. We strongly believe that healthy people make healthy nations and hence we contribute our might to address health issues regularly through such camps,” he added.
A team of specialist doctors, consultants, nurses and volunteers conducted free consultations and checkups in Cardiology, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Gynecology, Pediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Family Medicine, Urology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, and Dental specialties.
In addition to this, free blood pressure check-up, blood sugar and BMI check-up's were carried out to create awareness about diabetes and hypertension which has a high incidence in the region. The visitors were also offered free medicines besides the 50% discount on Laboratory and Radiology (X-ray, CT, Ultrasound and others) tests. Patients can avail the follow-up's for free in the next 15 days. As part of the hospital promotion of free medicines, informative brochures and health packages were distributed to the visitors.
“This is our annual event; it is organized to create an awareness on various health issues. We always get overwhelming response for our free health camps,” said Akbar Moideen Thumbay. “This year’s camp has generated lot of interest amongst the people and we helped more than 6000 people, which is a record till date. A lot of families also came to the camp,” he added.
“Owing to the changes in weather conditions, we have seen a lot of cases in Internal medicine, Pediatrics and Dermatology. There was a distinct increase in dental cases this year. We would like to continue with these camps and offer high quality, affordable health care through all our hospitals. I wish to thank our entire team, especially our doctors, who spared no effort to provide complete health care services to the people,” he concluded.
