Puttur, Jul 22: The incessant rains in the taluk has caused landslide at Padnur owing to which nearly 10 families living in the vicinity are facing a possible evacuation on safety measures.

Landslide has been reported at Cashew Board land near Hanumaje Betta here.  Land has developed cracks in an acre of land.  The soil in the area has collapsed for about 3 feet.  Similar cracks have been seen on a piece of land which is owned by one Ramanna Gowda of Berike.

A road passing through this land which connects the area with National Highway via Kadambu too has collapsed owing to which vehicles are not plying on the road.  The locals are of the opinion that landslide may continue unless some measures are taken.

But there is a complaint from the locals that the Cashew Board officials and gram panchayat members have not been paying a heed to their complaints.  Though MLA Shakuntala Shetty, taluk panchayat president Pakeera and others have visited the place on Thursday July 20, people are not yet given assurance that measures will be taken so that further danger is averted.
