Natal, June 24 (IANS/EFE): Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has revealed that he has always idolised legendary Argentine striker Gabriel Batistuta.
Batistuta is the top scorer for Argentina with 56 goals scored during his international career that spanned from 1991 to 2002. Suarez is also the top scorer for Uruguay with 41 goals, reports EFE.
"Batistuta scored goals of all colours, he was my childhood example," Suarez said ahead of the crucial clash against Italy.
"We expect to face Italy at its best, we know what's at stake and what should be done to win," Suarez said.
The Liverpool striker added that he is fully ready for the game, despite that he was not at his best physical shape against England, a game in which he scored twice.
Suarez also he was flattered with praise from former English striker Michael Owen, who said that Suarez redefines the word striker.
"Coming from a player, who has played for so long and and who is an idol in England this makes me proud," Suarez concluded.
