Mumbai, June 26 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Thursday was trading 132.25 points or 0.52 percent down as oil and gas stocks tank.
Selling pressure was seen in oil and gas and metal sectors, while good buying was observed in capital goods sector.
The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 25,217.69 points, was trading at 25,181.49 points in the pre-noon session, down 132.25 points or 0.52 percent from the previous day's close at 25,313.74 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 25,309.33 points and a low of 25,129.06 points in trade. The S&P BSE oil and gas index tanked 342.36 points and metal index dropped by 30.11 points. However, capital goods index got augmented by 166.27points.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 36.65 points or 0.48 percent down at 7,532.60 points.
