Mangalore, Jul 25: The ICICI bank, P M Rao Road branch officials have complained that Rs 1.50 lac has been stolen from the cash box on Monday July 24.

It is stated that the theft has taken place on Monday afternoon.  The close circuit cameras fixed in the bank showed that 3 persons were loitering around suspiciously within the bank on Monday afternoon. It is suspected that these persons might have been involved in the theft.

The theft came to light on Monday evening while the cashier was putting in order the day's financial transactions.  The record showed Rs 1.50 as missing.

However, the modus operandi of the theft has not yet been cracked.  As per the safety measures of the bank, the door of the cashier's cabin closes automatically as soon as he comes out for any other work.  So the possibilities of stealing money from the cash counter from outside the cabin are remote.

Some argue that cash might have missed either while giving or taking cash from the customers.  But it is unlikely that such a huge amount would be missed accidentally.
