Bangalore, Jul 25: In a clear warning that religious conversions would not be tolerated anymore near Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam, Vishvesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejavara Adhokshaja Math, Udupi, has called for a ‘Line of Control’ between religions to maintain peace and harmony in the nation.
”We are not against any particular religion. But no one should force or entice anyone to convert to another religion,” he said.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Swamiji said that the protest against conversion at Tirupati, which was scheduled to begin from August 8, has been postponed indefinitely, as the review meeting at Tirupati on July 21 had yielded results.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Endowment, Andra Pradesh, Endowment Commissioner, Officials from Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam (TTD) and religious leaders.
After the protests in Hyderabad, a committee was set up and was named Satya Shodhana Samithi. Swamiji said it will keep a strict vigil on anti-Hindu activities near the Tirumala temple.
He said the conversion bids had deeply affected Hindus all around the world. “We have been receiving letters from Hindus abroad demanding action against those who induced Hindus to convert, in Tirupati,” he said.
He also demanded that TTD should acquire the land around Tirumala hills, which, at present, are under the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department.
