Mangalore, Jul 25: 'Yuva Sahamilan', a youth gathering was held in St Joseph's College, Bajpe on Sunday.

The inaugural function was presided over by Bajpe parish priest Fr Mathias Periera the Parish priest of Bajpe, with Br. Charles D'Souza, principal of St Joseph's College Bajpe as chief guest. Director of ICYM unit Bajpe Fr Austin Fernandes, vice president of ICYM central council Mangalore diocese Kevin D'Souza, parish council vice-president Sylvester D'Souza, DK. zilla panchayat member Victoria D'Cunha, Ex-president of the ICYM central council Mangalore diocese Arun D'Souza Ajekar, ICYM Pejar varado president Brian Nazareth, president of the Bajpe ICYM unit Arun Pinto and secretary Jovita Nazareth were present.

As a symobol of exposing the youth talents, the chief guest of the ceremony bloomed the arecanut flower ('bhingari'). The president of Bajpe unit welcomed the gathering. Secretary Jovita Nazareth proposed the vote of thanks.

Two resource persons gave talks on youth development and their talent exposure. They also motivated the youth to join the ICYM and take active part in all the activities to be organized at the parish, varado and diocescen level. Various games were conducted to build up good rapport with each other.

The concluding programme held in the evening was presided over by Fr Mathias Periera, with  Fr  John Mendonca the vicar forane of Pezar varado as chief guest, and director of the ICYM unit Bajpe Fr Austin Fernandes, director of the ICYM pezar varado Fr Federick Monteiro, vice president of the ICYM central council Kevin D'Souza, honorary secretary of ICYM diamond jubilee committee Raymond D'Cunha Taccode,  president of ICYM Bajpe unit Arun Pinto and secretary of the ICYM Bajpe unit Jovita Nazareth on the dais.

Sandeep Miranda, treasurer of the unit, welcomed and Lavina Pinto proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded by singing the ICYM anthem.
