Udupi, Jul 25: Raghavendra, a resident of Sagar who is said to have been kidnapped by some persons came back safe on Tuesday July 25 morning putting to rest all speculations about his whereabouts and safety. With this tension that prevailed in the city in the last couple of days had eased.
Raghavendra presented himself before the police in the afternoon along with his elder brother. Reports said that though he had been kidnapped on Sunday July 23 night he was let free in Mangalore. However, the entire episode had frightened him.
So instead of coming back to the city, he had gone to Kannur in Kerala where one of his brothers is working. From there he and his brother went to Bangalore to meet their elder brother. It was from Bangalore that he started last night to the city. Before starting he called ASP Satish Kumar and told him that he is coming on Tuesday.
Accordingly he presented himself before the police and then before the protestors.
Earlier Bajrang Dal, Sri Ram Sene and Hindu Yuva Sene staged a protest and carried out road block demanding the arrest of the accused. They also asked the police to trace Raghavendra at the earliest.
However, at the end of the protest meet police announced that Raghavendra had come back safe and that he was present in there. So some top leaders led by MLA K Raghupati Bhat went along with ASP Satish Kumar and met Raghavendra.
Since Raghavendra himself asked the protestors to forget the episode and take back the case, the tension that prevailed in the city eased. However, it was decided to continue the case against those who abducted Raghavendra.
