Thiruvananthapuram, June 26 (IANS): The National Games will return to Kerala for the second time after a gap of 28 years and will run January 31-February 14, 2015, it was announced here Thursday.
The 35th edition of the National Games would be held in seven districts of the state,Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president N. Ramachandran said in the members lounge of the Kerala assembly here.
The games would be held in 36 disciplines and would be participated by 10,000 athletes and officials.
Present on the occasion was Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal, Leader of Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan, senior BJP leader O. Rajagopal and numerous senior party leaders cutting across political lines.
"We are thankful to the Centre for extending all the support and we are excited in hosting what would be one of the biggest sporting events," said Chandy.
