Mumbai, June 27 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Friday was trading 55.53 points or 0.22 percent up as IT and healthcare stocks surged.
Good buying was observed in IT and healthcare sectors, while selling pressure was seen in metal and banking sectors.
The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 25,132.08 points, was trading at 25,118.20 points in the pre-noon session, up 55.53 points or 0.22 percent from the previous day's close at 25,062.67 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 25,209.61 points and a low of 25,072.97 points in trade.
The S&P BSE IT index surged by 190.58 points and healthcare index gained by 212.19 points; while metal index dropped by 212.19 and bankex slid by 48.69 points.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 8.25 points or 0.11 percent up at 7,501.45 points.
