Mumbai, Jul 26: A day-long yakshagana fest was organized at Matunga recently.  Three senior yakshagana artistes were feted on the occasion for completing 50 years on stage.

Advocate Sanjeeva Kanchan, president, Citizen Organization of Public Opinion, presided over the programme. Kanchan felicitated Harate Manjunath, Kolyaru Raju Shetty and Durga R Kanchan, with citations, for completing fifty years in the field of yakshagana.

S T Vijay Kumar Thingalaya, entrepreneur and theatre artiste, Venugopal Shetty, hotelier, Manjunatha Mogaveera, Bhaskar Putran, Jyothi V Puthran and Pradeep M Chandan, were present as guests.

Omdas Kanangar welcomed the gathering.  Karnooru Mohan Rai compered the programme and read out the citations. Raju M Mendon Vandse proposed the vote of thanks.

Historical plays like ‘Bhishma Vijaya’, Abhimanyu Kalaga’, Gadayudha’ were staged on the occasion.
