Mangalore, Jul 26: Noted businessman Ronald (Roy) Castelino has been elected president of Konkani Prachar Sanchalan which has been established with an objective of promoting the teaching of Konkani in schools.

This was announced in a press conference held here on Wednesday July 26 morning.

Konkani Prachar Sanchalan will for the time being provide logistical support to the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy in terms of financial and human resources in guaranteeing the continuity of the process of teaching Konkani in schools in Kannada script.

The sanchalan will also mobilize the public and public opinion to convince the state government to introduce Konkani within the curriculum and after achieving the goal shall work for the expansion of that process to college-level, post graduation and Ph D level.
