London, June 28 (IANS/EFE): Online poker network 888poker announced termination of its contract with Uruguay's Luis Suarez after his biting incident in his team's match against Italy in the FIFA World Cup June 24.
Only two months after signing the Liverpool forward as an ambassador and part of the 888poker team, the firm released a statement saying: “888poker signed Luis Suarez following a fantastic season for which his achievements were widely recognised.
"Regrettably, following his actions during Uruguay’s World Cup match against Italy on Tuesday, 888poker has decided to terminate its relationship with Luis Suarez with immediate effect,” the statement added, reports EFE.
Suarez received a nine-match ban and suspension for four months from any football related activity after biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in the game which Uruguay won to qualify for the Round of 16.
