Udupi, Jul 27: The Udupi District Crime Intelligence Bureau team led by DCIB Inspector C E Thimmaiah on Wednesday, Jul 26 arrested Shamir alias Shammi (18) who was wandering suspiciously near the city bus stand here at 4.30 pm.
During interrogation he disclosed that he along with associates Mayyaddi and Mustaf were involved in several chain snatching cases in Hebri, Uppinangadi, Palimar, Adve, Moodabettu, Mulur and Kuthyar.
A gold chain valued at Rs 21,000 has been recovered from the place where it was disposed off.
Accused Shamir has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. His associates Mayyadi and Mustaf have also been arrested by the police team.
