Mangalore, Jul 27: Chittaranjan Shetty, a resident of Pavoor-Kadavu and a member of Harekala-Pavoor gram panchayat who had gone missing from Monday July 24 night was found dead on banks of River Netravati at Ullal-Kodi near here on Thursday July 27.
Eversince Chittaranjan had gone missing mysteriously on Monday night, rumours were making round the town that he might have drowned in the water. Now that his body has been found, those rumours have been proved too.
His body has been brought to Wenlock Hospital here for autopsy. So far it is not yet sure whether he accidentally drowned, committed suicide or someone murdered him. But people those who know him closely including his family members say that he was an expert swimmer and therefore would not have drowned in the water accidentally. Moreover, he was running his own business at Bikarnakatta and had no reason such as financial constrains, family problems etc to commit suicide.
So most of the residents of the area are of the opinion that he might have been murdered for some reasons. But as such he did not have enmity with anyone. Though he had won the last gram panchayat elections representing BJP, he had maintained a good relation with all. He was also the president of Citizens' Coordination Committee of Pavoor. He was a good sportsman too and had won many prizes at various levels of competitions.
His death has come as shock not only to his family but also to the entire vicinity. People's representatives too have expressed their shock on hearing the news of death of Chittaranjan Shetty.
Ullal police have registered a case in this regard.
