FIFA not to punish Robben

Fortaleza (Brazil), July 1 (IANS/EFE): FIFA does not intend to impose sanctions on Arjen Robben after the Dutch winger admitted having dived to claim a 93rd minute penalty against Mexico which gave Netherlands a 2-1 win in the Round of 16 World Cup clash.

Robben had said that he provoked a fall to claim the penalty. But later he said that he meant that for another incident, reports EFE.

FIFA spokeswoman Delia Fischer said that the Disciplinary Committee’s role was to investigate dangerous violations, describing the likes of Robben’s incident as a matter to be dealt with by the referees.
