Mangalore: Jul 30: Sumit Melroy Karkada won the elections of the Mangalore University All College Students Union and has been appointed as the president of the union for the year 2006-07.  Sumit is a student of SDM College of Business Management.

The election was held on Saturday, Jul 29 at Lions Seva Mandir.

Later speaking to the press, varsity former senate member Ivan D’Souza who was the election officer said that the three committees have been constituted for the academy air viz Anti-drug, Anti-ragging and Career Guidance Committee. He also added that the activities for the academic year will be formally launched on Aug 4.

More than 65 colleges participated in the election.

The office bearers are as follows:

General Secretaries: Shweta Shetty of Besant Womens College, Premnath Shetty of St Mary’s, Shirva, Arun Barbosa of SVS, Bantwal, Ashrit Shetty of SDM and Santhosh  of Government College, Kavoor.

Vice-presidents: Santhosh Mendon of MSRS, Shirva, Prashanth Shetty of Bhandarkar College, Kundapur, Santhosh Poojary of Sharada, Basrur, Akshay K of Canara College, Vinod Shetty  of Vivekananda, Puttur and Karen D’Mello of Roshni Nilaya.

Secretaries: Sachin Rai of St Phelomena, Puttur, Sunil of Govind Das College, Suratkal, and Gaurav Shetty of Moodbidri Mahaveer College.
