Washington, July 3 (IANS): US football coach Juergen Klinsmann lauded his team for an impressive show in the 2014 World Cup where the Yankees made it to the pre-quarterfinals.
The former Germany manager, who was a part of the 1990 World Cup winning West Germany side, said he was proud of the American team for giving their best in the World Cup, reports EFE.
Klinsmann added that his team gave their all until the last minutes, in a dramatic game where they conceded two late goals against the Belgians.
The German said his players were extremely exhausted after the game, yet he felt they did a good job making the Americans proud, according to AS.com.
Meanwhile, tributes poured in for the American football team following its good show in Brazil.
President Barrack Obama tweeted: "Go Team USA."
The official White House account tweeted: ”Very proud of @USSoccer. We'll win it all sooner than the world thinks. #BelieveIt -bo”
US vice-president Joe Biden highlighted the enthusiastic performance of the players and their persistence to give their all till the last minutes.
Biden tweeted his picture with the American team in the dressing room before the game, saying: “Let's go, #USMNT! #IBelieveThatWeWillWin”
Biden said he is proud of the players, especially goalkeeper Tim Howard, who was named Man of the Match against Belgium.
