Bangalore, Jul 30: The Karnataka government has decided to extend by 15 days the date for imposing the rule, making it compulsory for two-wheeler riders to wear helmets, chief minsiter H D Kumaraswamy said on Sunday.

Speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of the conference of health ministers of the southern states to devise ways to check chikungunya disease, he said there had been divergent views and protests from the people regarding wearing of helmets, especially for pillion-riders.

"We would extend the August one deadline by 15 days and consider the people's feelings regarding pillion-rider. The government order has already been issued as per the High Court order. We would extend the deadline to enable people to buy helmets," he added.
