Udupi, Aug 5: The people living along rivers Varahi and Halady at the Mani Dam site under the Varahi project have been asked to move to safe places due to an increase in water flow into the dam owing to incessant rain.

A press release issued by the executive engineer of the Mastikatte Dam site said the height of the Dam was 594.36 metres, but the inflow of water as on July 26 stood at 588.20 metres. If this trend were to continue, the gates of the dam would have to be opened to release the water.
