Barcelona, July 11 (IANS/EFE): FC Barcelona announced Friday they had reached a deal with England's Liverpool to sign Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez for the next five seasons.
The agreement, which is likely to top $95.2 million, is pending on the medical examination the player will pass next week, reports Efe.
The 27-year-old is the fourth player to be signed by Barça this summer after goalkeepers Marc Andre Ter Stegen (Germany) and Claudio Bravo (Chile), and Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
Suarez was the highest scorer last season in the English Premier League with 31 goals, which awarded him the European Golden Shoe jointly with Real Madrid's Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
The controversial striker will not be able to play for Barca until next October, due to a four-month ban imposed by FIFA for biting an Italian rival during the Brazil World Cup.
