Udupi, Aug 6: A locked house is an open invitation to thieves. This is what happed here in Karkala.
The house of Sumitra Jayram Shetty situated at Palli village in Karkala was burgled recently.
Sumitra who left the house locked found it ransacked on her return. According to the police the thieves entered the house between Jul 26 and Aug 4.
They broke open the rear door of the house and committed a theft.
Gold and silver ornaments and silk sarees worth Rs 80,000 have been reported stolen from the house.
A case has been registered at the Karkala town police station.
The investigation by the finger print squad did not fetch any results. The police team headed by CPI Karkala is working on other clues and the investigation is on.
