Kundapur, Aug 7: The Byndoor police in a swift action in the small hours of Monday August 7 stopped a tempo and arrested 4 persons for illegally transporting cattle for slaughter at Navunda near here. 

One Sridhar Bijoor saw a tempo (KA 15 2555) carrying cattle on Monday morning.  He immediately passed news to Byndoor police.  The police immediately got into action.  The vehicle was intercepted and on questioning those who were in the vehicle, that is, Pakki Ismail (31), Bhatkal, Khaleel (28), Byndoor, Adam (18) of Bhatkal, Ismail (24) of Sirsi and Khadir, a resident of  Navunda, confessed to the police that the cattle were being transported for slaughter illegally.

The police also seized 13 bulls, 3 cows and 2 he-buffaloes along with the vehicle used for transporting.  A complaint has been registered in the Byndoor police station in this regard.
