Rousseff denies intention to control football

Rio de Janeiro, July 14 (IANS/EFE): Brazil President Dilma Rousseff denied any intention by her government to nationalise or control football in her country.

But she demanded reforms to bring an end to their top players leaving the country to play in foreign clubs, reports Efe.

"The government does not want to guide football because the sport cannot be affiliated to the state. We want to contribute to the development of the game. Rely on us in this,” Rousseff tweeted.
