Mangalore, Aug 10: The Dakshina Railway Employees Union (DREU), Dakshina Railway Karmik Sangh (DRKS), All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) and All India Station Masters’ Association (AISMA) held a protest demonstration in front of the Railway Health Unit here on Wednesday Aug 9 demanding the prosecution of the accused Railway Divisional Medical Officer. 
 
They alleged that the medical officer was responsible for the death of railway employee Nagesh Poojary. They said that the doctor gave Nagesh a sick and fit certificate on July 21 after which he got admitted in Government Wenlock Hospital and died of Pneumonia on July 23.

DREU had organised a protest against the doctor following the death of Nagesh. An action committee meeting held at the Railway Institute on August 4 decided to go on with the protest unless and until action is taken.

DREU President N Ravindran, Convener V S Chandramohan, AISMA Dvisional Joint Secretary Sunil Kumar, DRKS Assistant Divisional Secretary Ravikumar and DREU Assistant Divisional Secretary T Suresh were among the present.
