Mangalore, Aug 10: A theft of valuables worth Rs 4 lac has been reported from Mastikatte near Ullal here on Wednesday August 9 night.
Theft took place in one Jaikishan's house at Mastikatte. Jaikishan who is employed in Dubai and had come home just a couple of days ago. He and his family members had gone to Bajal to one of their relatives' house and had stayed there overnight on Wednesday night.
Taking advantage of their absence, thieves have broken into the house and have decamped with valuables. The thieves have decamped with diamond chain, camera and other gold ornaments worth Rs 4 lac. The entire house has been ransacked in search of valuables.
Involvement of some locals, who knew that Jaikishan had recently come from abroad and that there was no one in his house on Wednesday night, is suspected in the theft.
The theft came to light on Thursday August 10 morning when house servant Damodar came to work. He found the house open and ransacked. He immediately called Jaikishan over the phone and passed him the news.
A complaint in this regard has been filed in the Ullal police station.
