Puttur, Aug 10: A pedestrian was knocked down to death by an unidentified vehicle near by-pass road here on Wednesday August 9 night.

The deceased has been identified as Giriappa Gowda, a resident of Thenkila near here.  He was walking by roadside near Swami Kala Mandir here on Wednesday night when an unidentified Maruti 800 car hit him.

As a result Giriappa Gowda sustained serious injuries and was immediately admitted to Mahaveer Hospital by revenue inspector Sridhar.  Later he was taken to a hospital in Mangalore.  But he succumbed to injuries on the way.

The Puttur town police have registered a complaint in this regard.
