Daijiworld News Network – Mangalore (VM)

Mangalore, Aug 11: Day-by-day the roads of the district are turning out to be highly non-motorable. The rains have added fuel to the flame and the common man’s life is miserable. While the BJP took up the issue of demanding better roads, the in-charge minister for the district B Nagaraj Shetty even had an ultimatum placed. But all was in vain.

Now it’s the time of the Samajwadi Party which in association with other people’s organisation had announced that it would call for a district bundh if the authorities fail to repair roads in the district within seven days.

Speaking to press persons here on Thursday, Aug 10, Samajwadi Party district General Secretary S P Chengappa said that the National Highways, State Highways and rural roads are in pathetic condition in the district.

Though District-in-Charge Minister had given an ultimatum of 72 hours to repair the roads in the district some time ago, nothing concrete had taken place in the district so far. Roads continue to remain the same.

Although many orgnaistions had staged protest against the bad condition of the roads, the authorities seem to be not moved by the protest, he added.

With the Samajwadi Party’s warning with a district bundh, the empty promises of Shetty seem to have company.

If the district-in-charge minister with all his power could not have the roads repaired, will an unpopular Samajwadi Party be able to do it?

Either ways the public is at loss!
