Mangalore, Aug 11: "It is quite a sad development that despite having provisions to combat sexual harassment on women in working places, it is not done effectively. Though the parliament has passed a bill in this regard, it has not yet been implemented. These days sexual harassment on women is increasing at an alarming pace. So it is high-time that state as well as union government think of implementing anti-sexual harassment law, “said Varalakshmi, state convener of the Working Women's Protection Committee of the CITU.
She was speaking at the convention of working women of the district at S K Tiles hall at Bolar here on Thursday August 10.
CITU state president B Mahdav, district president K R Shriyan, state vice-president Ramani, Janawadi Mahila Sanghatane president Hemlatha, working women's association convener Sukanya were also present on the occasion.
