New Delhi, July 19 (IANS): Former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi heaped praise on seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who achieved his best bowling performance in Tests Saturday, saying that the Meerut-born youngster is "my kind of cricketer".
Bhuvneshwar brought up his best figures of 6/82 on Day 3 of the second Test against England at Lord's. He surpassed his previous best of 5/82, his first five-wicket haul, which he achieved in the last Test on a Trent Bridge pitch which was rated 'poor' by ICC.
In the process, the 24-year-old also became only the third Indian to pick up six wickets at the 'home of cricket' after Ladha Amar Singh (1936) and Bedi (1974) himself.
"Am v glad w/Bhuvn's Allround growth as Ind Crktr w/humble background. May his tribe grow manifold!Pl avoid over-gyming Son!Simplicity yur pt. Bhuvn my kind of Crktr-plays well w/in his limitations!Hope he cn stay that way & avoid the flash bulbs in his trademark shyness Godbless!!," tweeted the former India spinner.
Bhuvneshwar has been the best bowler in the five-match series so far with 11 wickets, two more than all other Indian bowlers combined.
Bedi also lauded Ajinkya Rahane, whose first innings century saw India reach a respectable total of 295 from a precarious position.
"ARahane' ton & Bhuvn's 6fr must go towards team winning!Com'on guys do it fr two outstanding performers!Game beautifully poised fr gr8 end!!"
