Mumbai, Aug 11: Manjunath V Salian (30), son of Varanga Vithal Poojary, hailing from Shantyar Kale of Perdur-Berampally, and currently a resident of Malad, was found murdered in Manikpur-Vasai police station limits on Tuesday. He was the managing partner of Hotel Sona on S V Road in Goregaon (West).
He was reported to be missing after leaving home on business on Sunday. When he had not returned home and when enquiries with all relatives and friends drew a blank, a complaint was filed in the Goregaon and Malad police stations.
When the body of a youth was found in Vasai on Tuesday, the news was flashed to all police stations. The Malad police informed the family of Manjunath Salian, who identified him on the basis of the photo of the body.
Although the motive of the murder is not known, there are suspicions that some business rivalry may have had something to do with the crime.
Manjunath leaves behind wife Sheba (expecting her second child in fourth month), a five-year-old daughter, parents, three brothers and two sisters.
As soon as he went missing, the Billawar Association president and office-bearers, Dayanand Varanga and others had got in touch with the deputy chief minister R R Patil and some police officers to investigate his disappearance, it is reported.
