Puttur, Aug 11: Eversince the prime accused in the Akshata murder case Sattar was arrested by the police, the entire case has been taking interesting twists and turns. It is said that one Addu alias Abdul Rahiman had played a major role in the arrest of Sattar. It was he who had told Sattar that he would help him to secure bail.
So when Sattar had come to Puttur, he had contacted Addu. The latter had passed the news to town police station inspector Mukund Nayak. When Sattar came to Addu, the latter gave him Rs 250 and asked him to go to Bangalore on the same night. Meanwhile he informed the police about Sattar. Accordingly police managed to arrest him near Boluvar.
In the meantime, the entire case took a new twist with Jagdish Shetty, honorary president of Sneha Sangam Rickshaw Drivers' and Owners' Association accusing that Addu too was involved in the murder and that he had shielded Sattar for long.
This allegation was followed by Sri Ram Sene leader Arun Kumar Puttila's statement that Addu too should be taken to police custody and interrogated in the Akshata murder case.
Reacting to these allegations strongly, Addu in a press conference has said that he would file a defamation case against both Arun Kumar Puttila and Jagdish Shetty for having dragged his name in the case.
"I have helped police to arrest Sattar. I have spent my time and energies without expecting anything in return. My only intention was that the Sattar should be nabbed and that justice should be done to Akshata's family in the case. I lured Sattar and made him to come here from Puttur. These persons should have praised my work. But they are criticizing me and doubting me,' said Addu in a press conference here.
He said that he felt really sad with these developments, since he had worked selflessly. "Let police interrogate me or even conduct narco analysis test on Sattar. I have no problem. But these kind of baseless comments do hurt a lot. I am filing a Rs 5 lac defamation case against both of them," he added.
Though the case has almost been solved, one major question remains as who will be given the prize money announced by different organizations for those who help in nabbing Sattar. Since the police department too has not announced any name, it has become a wild guess now.
As reported earlier, Arun Kumar Puttila had announced a cash prize of Rs 5,000 on behalf of Sri Ram Sene. This money was collected by Sri Ram Sene activists, by way of begging in the town for the same cause. On the other hand, Jagdish Shetty Nellikatte too had announced a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Some sources said that one Krishnappa had said that he would give a piece of his land to the police informer.
Addu has meanwhile said that the allegations are made against him to avoid giving the prize money. "I do not want money. Let them give the same to Akshata's family who are in need of it. But let them not make all these derogatory remarks," said he.
Meanwhile Dakshina Kannada Muslim Yuvajana Parishat president who was present at the press conference said that they would give Rs 10,000 in cash to those who would either arrest to help police in arresting Laxman, prime accused in the Divyarani murder case of Kadri, Mangalore.
