Asian Games: Kazakh weightlifters eye three gold medals


Almaty (Kazakhstan), July 22 (IANS): Alexey Ni, head coach of the national weightlifting team of Kazakhstan, has said his team aim to win three gold medals at the Asian Games this year in Incheon, South Korea.

Alexey Ni stressed that for the first time the Kazakhstani athletes will be represented in all the weight categories at the upcoming Asian Games, reports Xinhua.

According to him, the team aims to gain by three gold medals at both the Asian Games and the World Championships that will be held in Almaty in November, 2014.

"During the Asian Games 2010 Zulfiya Chinshanlo became the silver medalist that is why she is confident of winning the gold medal in South Korea," Alexey Ni said.

Kazakhstan will send a team of 16 weightlifters, including reserves, to compete in the Incheon Games, slated for Sep 19 to Oct 4.
