Mangalore Aug 13: An employee of Bantwal taluk office committed suicide during office hours on Friday, Aug 11.

Asha (22) who was working as a second division clerk attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison. She was rushed to the hospital in Mangalore where she breathed her last.

Sources have revealed that Asha was in love with one Jyothi Subhash who had refused to marry her.

According to the police, Asha entered the office of Sridhar Achar Tahsildar Bantwal Taluk and told him that one Jyothi Subhash working in the same office had sexual relations with her and later refused to marry her. She then consumed poison in the office.

Following this a complaint was lodged by the Tahsildar against the said Jyothi Subhash.

A case under rape along with abetment to commit suicide has been registered in Bantwal Town Police Station.

Asha was a resident of K R Pete in Mysore district.
