Delhi Metro sets new ridership record


New Delhi, July 22 (IANS): The Delhi Metro recorded the highest ridership of over 26 lakh (2.6 million) passengers in a single day July 21, surpassing a record set last August.

"Delhi Metro achieved another milestone on Monday when over 26 lakh people travelled on the metro during the day," said a statement from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

The number of passengers on metro services Monday was 26,84,132, breaking the record of Aug 19, 2013 when 26,50,635 people travelled by the metro.

On Monday, the highest ridership of 10,09,276 was witnessed on the Blue Line connecting Dwarka Sector 21 in west Delhi to Noida/Vaishali in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.
