Airport Metro's reduced fares effective from Thursday

New Delhi, July 23 (IANS): Fares on the Delhi Metro's Airport Express line that were reduced by up to 40 percent will be effective July 24, Metro authorities said Wednesday.

"As per the revised fare structure applicable from tomorrow (Thursday), the single journey fare on the corridor will be Rs.20 replacing the earlier minimum fare of Rs.30 and the maximum fare will be Rs.100 against the earlier maximum fare of Rs.180," said a Delhi Metro statement.

The move intends to provide "greater convenience" to commuters.

The line connects Dwarka Sector 21 in west Delhi to New Delhi Railway Station via Dhaula Kuan.

"Therefore, a one-way journey from the New Delhi station to Dwarka Sector 21 using single journey token will now cost only Rs.100," the statement added.

Delhi Metro will also offer further discounts on the purchase of multiple journey trip cards. In case of 60-trip cards, the minimum and maximum one-way fares will further come down to less than nine and 40 percent, respectively.

Delhi Metro took over the operation of the Airport Express Line July 1, 2013.
