New Delhi, July 23 (IANS): Luxury automobile manufacturer BMW Wednesday launched ActiveHybrid 7 sedan priced at Rs.1.35 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
According to the company, all new hybrid vehicle integrates efficient combustion engine and energy-saving electric motor to deliver more power by consuming less energy. Its energy management system captures surplus power and then re-converts it back into motion.
"Hybrid vehicles are milestones in a time of change toward low-emission driving. The all-new BMW ActiveHybrid 7 introduces a fundamentally new driving experience in the luxury segment that India," said Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India.
"It is the perfect choice to savour the agility and performance of a BMW 7 Series in a hybrid vehicle, without having to compromise in any way on comfort or spaciousness."
The all-new vehicle will be available at its dealerships in Delhi NCR (national capital region), Mumbai and Chennai as a CBU (Completely built-Up) units.
The luxury sedan is powered by a turbo six-cylinder in-line petrol engine which is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that can generate 235 kW or 320 hp and 450 Nm of torque accelerating the vehicle from 0 to 100 km per hour with in only 5.7 seconds.
The high-performance lithium-ion battery supplies the energy needed to run on electric motor alone with maximum efficiency. The battery is charged on every trip and with the help of energy regeneration as soon as brakes are applied.
The company said that in pure electric mode, the vehicle can be driven without generating emissions at up to 60 km per hour with a range of up to four kilometres.
