Morocco underlines serious impact of Israeli offensive

Geneva, July 24 (IANS): Morocco has underlined the serious impact of the ongoing Israeli offensive on the human rights situation of Palestinians in Gaza.

"Israel has crossed the red lines by violating all human customs and all international agreements by these criminal, destructive and immoral attacks against the Palestinians," said Hassan Boukili, the top diplomat of the Moroccan delegation in Geneva, at a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Wednesday.

Nothing justified shelling unarmed civilians, especially children and women, nor attacks targeting hospitals, ambulances and religious sites, Boukili said during session that was held at the request of the Arab group, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and Palestine, MAP news agency reported.

He urged the UN Security Council to back the draft resolution, put forward by the Arab group, the African countries, the OIC and the Non-Aligned Movement, requesting the establishment of a commission to investigate human rights violations in the Gaza Strip.
