Three killed in Thailand car bomb explosion


Bangkok, July 25 (IANS): At least three people were killed and 40 injured Friday when a car bomb exploded in Thailand's Yala province.

The bomb blast occurred at Betong district of the province at around 4.40 p.m., the Bangkok Post reported.

According to the police, the explosives were hidden in a pickup truck parked in front of the Betong Holiday Hill hotel. 

An explosive cylinder, believed to weigh about 25 kg, was placed on the ground, the police said. 

The area was crowded with tourists and local residents at the time of the blast. 

An investigation into the incident is under way.
