AAP activists arrested for defacing public property

New Delhi, July 28 (IANS): Four Aam Aadmi Party activists, who were pasting posters for an upcoming party rally here, were arrested Monday on the charge of defacing public property, a police officer said.

The activists, all aged between 20-30 years, were booked under various sections of the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007.

The AAP claimed that pasting posters was not a "crime".

Other political parties also paste posters but why do police not take action against them, an AAP leader said IANS.

Police said the AAP activists were found pasting the posters in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar area early Monday for the rally scheduled Aug 3 at Jantar Mantar.

"They were found pasting the posters at restricted places and were taken to the police station by the patrolling team and put under arrest," a police official said.
