Mumbai / Raipur, Aug 19: A major breakthrough has been achieved in the probe into the July 11 serial bomb blasts in commuter trains in Mumbai, Union Minister for State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal said here on Friday.
"In a major breakthrough, we have understood the conspiracy behind the blasts although the accused are yet to be arrested," he told reporters at the Mana airport here.
"Many things are clear now after the investigation but it will take time to reach to the crux of the matter," he said.
Since the security forces have understood the purpose of the blasts, all steps have been taken and it will be difficult for anyone to carry out any such blasts in the country, he said.
"We are serious about the internal security challenges and besides using forces, we want to adopt other methods to deal with terrorists activities," Jaiswal said when asked about recent incidents of violence in north eastern states.
"Assam, Manipur and other north eastern states are comparatively peaceful now and people need not be worried about the stray incidents of violence there," he said.
