Snooping by US unacceptable, Sushma Swaraj tells Kerry

New Delhi, July 31 (IANS): Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj Thursday said she raised the issue of US agencies allegedly snooping the BJP with visiting US Secretary of State John Kerry and conveyed to him the public anger in India about it.

"This act on part of the US is completely unacceptable to us since we are friendly nations," Sushma Swaraj told the media here in a joint interaction with Kerry.

Kerry however said he can't discuss the issue with the media as it is a practice in the US that intelligence matters are not discussed publicly.

"We don't discuss intelligence matter publicly. But we value sharing of information regularly on counter terrorism with India. US President Barack Obama clearly articulated that we fully respect and understand feelings expressed by Indian nationals," he said.

Reports had emerged in the media recently that US agencies were spying on the Bharatiya Janata Party, which now heads the Indian government.

When all congress MPs wrote Obama not to issue visa to Modi, isnt it more shameful act than snooping by them?!If we show our weakness to America, they use this opportunity
as they wish, nothing wrong in it.
First learn to respect each and every indian. If we are united and solve our problems internally no one dare to do such things in future.

Speaking and embarrassing someone is easy. The country will pay the price while these powerful countries frame their foreign policies. It is different matter if you as a Indian politician are able to do something about the snooping. Foreign port folio should be handled by diplomatic , cunning yet prudent minister who knows how to play with words.

You posts are always rambling. You start your post by being critical of Modi and then go on a complete tangent by making assertions about the spying capabilities of the US, which are a total disconnect from your first line. I am forced to conclude that you usually post under the influence. There is no logic in what you write or post. It is total drivel.

Quite an embarrassment for Indian Govt leadership the visit of Modi to US is in the near future.

Spying or snooping foreign Country is not new for USA.It is a integral part foreign policy .It has the capacity to knock down an elected govt of the world if that country is 'not friendly' with it

John Kerry looked uncomfortable and shaken during the press conference when Sushma Swaraj uttered these words. The press conference is on youtube. He lost his cool and rambled nonsense after that. Modi has given good danda to JoKer-ry. Like his name he is a Joker.
