Cop hugs murder accused, calls him 'good boy'; shifted

Kanpur, Aug 1 (PTI): A senior police official probing the murder of a young woman, daughter-in-law of a leading businessman of Uttar Pradesh, was today taken off the investigation after he hugged the main accused and the victim's husband inside a police station here.

The accused, Piyush Shyam Dasani, was today taken into remand by the police for questioning.

In the presence of media in Swaroop Nagar police station, Circle Officer R K Naik asked Dasani whether he would mend his ways. To this, Dasani replied in the affirmative.

Following this, Naik hugged the murder accused and planted a kiss on his forehead while calling him a "good boy". Later, Dasani was sent to jail.

When the news reached the Inspector General of Police, Ashutosh Pandey, he removed the CO and attached him to SP's office.

The CO was also removed from the probe.

The victim Jyoti's body, bearing multiple stab wounds, was found inside Dasani's car on July 28 in Panki area of the district.

Dasani was arrested after he confessed to have got Jyoti killed with the help of his driver as he was having relations with another woman, Inspector General of Police, Kanpur Zone, Pandey said.

The driver, his two accomplices and the woman with whom Dasani was having an affair have been arrested.

Dasani in his complaint lodged with the police after the incident alleged that he and Jyoti were returning home from a restaurant on July 27 night when some motorcycle-borne youths tried to overtake their car.

A scuffle broke out between him and the youths after one of the bikes hit the car, according to the complaint.

Dasani had claimed that he was beaten up by one of the youths after which they abducted Jyoti and also took the car along with them.

According to police officials, they suspected Dasani's role behind the murder from the beginning itself as there were several discrepancies in his account.

Dasani, who had claimed he was beaten up, did not have any injury marks on his body, police said.

The CO should also be put behind bars with Piyush and tried. He is behaving with Piyush as if a small child has robbed a chocolate. At the same time it is not surprising these things happen all the time..these type of people make a mockery of our law and order.I wont be surprised if this rascal comes out from behind bars within a week after all Indian law is different for rich and poor/ the influential and the not influential which has been proved in many cases.

    Must be funny, always sunny
    In the rich man's world.

This Piyush has already confessed and all circumstantial evidence proves that he is the prime suspect of his wife Jyoti's coldblooded murder. For such a murderer this CO asks whether he would mend his ways and kisses his forehead. All because Piyush family is extremely rich. What would have been the treatment to Tom, Harry and Dick is anybody's guess. CO thinks if he wins a fortune in this game, his future will not be the same. Real Kaliyug
