Mexico City, Aug 2 (IANS): Mexican goalkeeper and 2014 World Cup standout Guillermo Ochoa has signed a three-year contract with Spanish club Malaga.
In a Twitter post Friday, Ochoa thanked Malaga fans for welcoming him to the team via their online messages, reports Xinhua.
"Thanks to all the @MalagaFC fans for their warm welcome!!!" wrote Ochoa, whose World Cup performance helped take Mexico's national team reach the quarterfinals.
Ochoa began his career with Mexico's Aguilas del America, then moved to France's Ajaccio, before joining Malaga, where he will wear the No.13 jersey, the same used by his Malaga predecessor Willy Caballero, who was transferred to English team Manchester City.
During a World Cup group stage match between Mexico and Brazil, Ochoa made four amazing saves, including a header from Brazil star Neymar, and others by Thiago Silva and Marcelo, earning him the title as the most valuable player of the game.
