Mumbai, Aug 4 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Monday was trading 138.95 points or 0.55 percent up in afternoon trade as consumer durables stocks surged. Almost all the sectors were trading in the green.
The rally was led by consumer durables, IT, auto and capital goods sectors.
The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 25,631.68 points, was trading at 25,619.79 points up 138.95 points or 0.55 percent from the previous day's close at 25,480.84 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 25,688.21 points and a low of 25,531.38 points in the trade so far.
The S&P BSE consumer durables index surged by 197.90 points, IT index gained by 179.92 points, auto index increased by 149.07 points and capital goods index moved up by 133.68 points.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 46.55 points or 0.61 percent up at 7,649.15 points.
