Belo Horizonte, Aug 4 (IANS): Brazilian football club Atletico Mineiro won their first match since the departure of star Ronaldinho by defeating a luckless Atletico Paranense 3-1.
Atletico Paranense midfielder Marcos Guilherme cancelled out Leonardo Silva's first-half strike before Leonardo Pereira and then Deivid turned the ball into their own net Sunday, reports Xinhua.
The result at the Independencia stadium moved Atletico Mineiro to 11th in Brazil's Serie A standings with 18 points. Atletico Paranaense have one point more in ninth place.
The match came less than a week after Ronaldinho and Atletico parted ways by mutual consent.
The two-time FIFA World Player of the Year winner joined the Belo Horizonte club in June 2012 and guided them to their first Copa Libertadores trophy last year.
The 34-year-old is yet to reveal his future but has been linked with a move to the New York Red Bulls, Boca Juniors, Besiktas, Queens Park Rangers and Fluminense.
