Condemn judge's sexual harassment, Lekhi urges MPs

New Delhi, Aug 5 (IANS): BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi Tuesday raised the issue of alleged sexual harassment of a woman judge by a judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in the Lok Sabha and sought condemnation of the incident.

Lekhi said the issue was quite shocking and showed that women were not safe even in the hallowed precincts of the judiciary.

"Right to life and right to work of a woman has been affected," she said, adding this called for condemnation from the house and the judiciary.

The woman judge in her letter to President Pranab Mukherjee, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Chief Justice Lodha has given the details of the way she was harassed by the high court judge who was also the administrative in-charge of Gwalior where she was posted as an additional district and sessions judge.

The woman judge has alleged that she was posted to a remote area after she declined the judge's request to dance to an item song at a 'ladies' sangeet' function at his home.
