Guerrilla hideout busted in Kashmir


Jammu, Aug 5 (IANS): Security forces Tuesday busted a guerrilla hideout in the hilly Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir and seized a large cache of arms and ammunition, a defence spokesman said.

Based on specific inputs, a joint operation was launched by the army and police in Chhachchha.

"The hideout was well concealed and located in a remote area within thick jungle," the spokesman said.

An AK-47 rifle, a magazine, 148 rounds of ammunition, a 7.62 mm Chinese pistol, three pistol magazines, 15 rounds of 303 ammunition, a radio set, one 8-kg cylindrical IED, a 2.5 kg IED in a metal box, a 9-volt battery, an electric detonator, four Chinese hand grenades, one RPG rocket, seven UBGL grenades, a binocular, a combat jacket and a few leaves of a letter pad of the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

"The recovery of this cache is a major blow to terrorist outfits," the official said.
